A.A.米尔恩（Alan Alexander Milne，1882—1956）生于伦敦，大学读的是数学，参加过第一次世界大战，当过英国老牌幽默杂志《笨拙》的副主编。在为小朋友写书以前，他已经是一位大作家，写了许多长短篇小说、剧本、诗歌。不过让他闻名世界的，还是他的儿童文学作品。
