德州红脖世界观，牛仔出身，海豹部队的训练，作为狙击手四进伊拉克的经历。主角在其中毫不掩饰自己的粗朴认同感和纯职业军人视角：热爱国家（但”国家“基本上等同于家庭、亲人、战友、小社区，最多是德州）；绝不惜身，同袍至上，尊敬各部同僚；视敌人为邪恶化身必欲诛之而后快；眼中只有目标和胜利，等级观念淡漠；厌恶或毫不愿意理解官僚体系、懦夫或无能行为、不合理的交战规则、战争的政治目的，甚至公然说到伊拉克的目的是保卫国家、同袍和家人不受侵害，至于伊拉克人和伊拉克政局如何根本don't give a flying fuck；对反战人士和行为以过来人身份嗤之以鼻。对狙击细节和战争场面描写不算十分细致，但大致的勾勒已可让读者感受到生死的重压、军人的心理压力和看到同袍倒下的痛苦等种种。

听的audio book。语言比较简单，基本都能听懂，三星中有一星是给英文听力材料的。关于作者，是个SEAL sniper，典型的Texas美国大兵，不能argue更多。
