第一次看Erdrich的書是大二，Love Medicine，她的第一本小說，為此我還特意想把畢業論文作成印地安文學，一晃8年過去，她寫齣瞭第14本小說，我這個讀者覺得當時想象的以後決不是現在的樣子。書是寫印地安婦女被強暴的社會問題，故事有力，但總是有點on and off的味道，3.5

Start off strong but wrap up with a crappy ending. Hate the ghosts and all the supernatural stuff, which is quite a disturbance in this story. Really a chore to finish this book.

This novel is a sequential to The Plague of Doves, which tells the stories of Joe's parents and grand parents and grand grand.... Justice is hard to serve and true, "the sentence is to endure". Suffering minorities, bloody unfair treatments, historical debts, to put these in the Chinese context, makes Erdrich's novel ever more intriguing.
