leanne shapton's collection of swimming suits, pools, and waters are some of the most poignant images in my recent experience, while the writing could be further edited. the structure of such a project is not only curious but inspiring. the most encouraging thought of all is to treat everything we do as "laps" thus to defeat all difficulties.

The book is not entirely about swimming, but the writing circles around it, surprisingly warm and delicate unlike most other sports memoirs.

第二遍讀雖然沒有第一遍感覺好，不過仍舊是文字描寫身體記憶的優秀嘗試。寫體育和舞蹈的文字都是明知不可為而為之，硬要隔靴搔癢的努力。

腦中是冷色的泳池，規整的磚塊，nutrition bars，香蕉，氯氣的味道，濕答答的粘連的頭發，帶有霧氣的眼鏡，姣好的臀部和身體綫條，有規律的撲水聲，還有呼吸的聲音。zax說這本書也不過是來騙騙喜歡細膩描寫的少女的罷瞭，但我想不是的。這本書，讓我想到我自己，在不同時刻中self-conscious的自己，對某事某物obsessive以至於在彆的地方都能看到它們蹤跡的自己。
