1962年生於蘇格蘭，英國小說傢、劇作傢、記者。

其作品《縱橫交錯的世界》被《衛報》評為2011年年度最佳小說，《藝想》更是榮膺首屆金匠奬。2014年，阿莉·史密斯憑藉小說《兩麵人生》入圍布剋奬短名單，同時斬獲瞭百利女性小說奬（原柑橘文學奬）、福裏奧文學奬、金匠奬以及科斯塔文學奬。2017年，《鞦》再度入圍布剋奬短名單，並登上瞭當年《紐約時報》“十大好書”榜榜首，並在《衛報》於2019年評選齣的“二十一世紀百佳圖書”榜單中位列第八名。
