評分大二的時候第一次讀這本書,簡直震撼。雖然Thorne研究的是半個世紀前的美國小學,但卻能勾起我小學時的各種迴憶。很長時間裏這本書都是我最喜歡的民族誌中的Top 3。不過不知道為什麼,現在重新讀反而不覺得有印象中那麼精彩(可能是那個年代寫作風格的原因?)但不得不說在當時這本書的意義是不可否認的。你甚至可以將CJ Pascoe對於高中男性氣質的研究以及Karin Martin對於中學女生自尊心下降的研究追溯到這本書(如果沒記錯的話她倆似乎都是Thorne的學生?)這本書一個有趣的內在矛盾在於Thorne一直強調兒童的能動性,但在最後卻又提齣需要大人“幫助”孩子構建更平等的性彆關係,甚至弱化性彆的重要性。另外四年前第一次讀的時候忽視的一個點是:性彆無處不在,但未必處處相關。
