必须声明，这不是诗全集，研究休斯绝不能只靠这一本，《清醒》只收了三分之一不到的诗，《沃德沃怪物》第二部分的“散文诗”全部没有，此外这本书极为笨重，字略小，易破损，更多时候还是比较适合装饰。 但是，但是，书后的对各版本的考订是极为珍贵的材料。总而言之，研究休斯不能没有此书，但不能止步于此书。
