谢尔戈·拉夫连季耶维奇·贝利亚(谢·阿·格格奇科里)，1924年11月24日生于第比利斯市。1941年在莫斯科第172中学毕业后，被苏联内务部中央无线电技术实验室录用。战争初期，他作为志愿者被共青团区委推荐到情报学校学习。结业后，以中尉技术员的军衔开始在军队服役。

1942年10月国防人民委员部派遣谢尔戈·贝利亚入列宁格勒布琼尼军事通讯学院学习。学习期间他曾多次奉最高统帅和总参谋部之命执行特别秘密任务。曾获“保卫高加索”奖章和红星勋章。

1947年，军事学院毕业之后，政府决定派遣谢尔戈·贝利亚到计划设计部门工作，信箱为1323(即后来著名的第一设计局)，在那里直到1953年7月担任主任工程师、主任设计师之职，曾荣获列宁勋章和苏联国家奖金。1952年通过博士论文答辩。

受其父拉夫连季·贝利亚“案件”牵连，他于1953年7月被捕，到1954年年底，先后被关押在列福尔托沃和布特尔卡监狱。

获释之后，交给他一本署名为谢尔盖·阿列克谢耶维奇·格格奇科里的护照，被流放到乌拉尔。在斯维尔德洛夫斯克市处于长期的“监护”之下，他在代号为320信箱的单位工作将近十年，一直担任高级工程师。由于国家一批科学家向政府提出申请，也由于其母生病，他被获准转到基辅市代号为24信箱的单位工作。后来这个单位改组为“量子”科研所。1988年9月之前他先后担任首席设计师、科主任、部主任，后来转任系统设计部主任、乌克兰科学院材料学问题研究所新物理学问题综合部主任设计师。从1990年起，谢尔戈·贝利亚(谢·阿·格格奇科里)成为科技领导，“彗星”科研中心基辅分部主任设计师。
