The Central and East European Population since 1850 is the third volume in the European Population series, providing the most comprehensive statistical data available on Central and East European demography. It is a comparative and historical data handbook, presenting series data on demographic developments, population and household structures for the countries of Central and East Europe. All major fields of demographic change are covered: fertility, mortality, marriage and divorce. Population figures are given for each population census by sex, civil status and age. Major demographic developments within the family are described providing commentary on the main population structures and trends in Europe since the mid-nineteenth century. The Societies of Europe The Societies of Europe is a series of historical data handbooks with accompanying data sets on the development of Europe from the nineteenth to the twentieth century. They have been produced at the Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES), a body affiliated to the University of Mannheim, Germany, and one of the leading social research institutes in the world. The Author Franz Rothenbacher is a sociologist at Mannheim Centre for European Social Research (MZES). His working fields comprise demographic and family change in Europe, and European social and family reporting. He is the author of The European Population, 1850 to 1945 and The European Population since 1945.
