Doris Schattschneider received her PhD in mathematics from Yale University and taught at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, for thirty-four years. She is the author of numerous articles and has lectured throughout the world on the topics of ti]lng and poiyhedra, dynamic geometry software, geometry and att, visualization in teaching mathematics, and the symmetry work of M. C.Escher. She is the co-author of the bestselling model kit M. C. Escher Kaleidocycles and co-editor of the book and

Magazine, and in 1993 she received the MAA Award for Distinguished Teaching of College or University Mathematics.
Douglas R. Hofstadter is the Pulitzer prize-winning author of Godel, Escher, Bach: an Eternal Golden Braid,a hugely popular and seminal work on mathematical logic, cognitive science and philosophy of mind. Trained in mathematics and physics, Hofstadter is Professor of Computer Science and Cognitive Science at Indiana University, and in addition does work in comparative literature, art, music and other fie]ds.
