For sure I know almost nothing about Marlowe before reading this tragedy of Doctor Faustus. However, his book really raises one of the most important question in my life -- why learning. Faustus learn for his own curiosity, the desire to know everything even the unbeknownst knowledge of God. Then do we learn for the same reason? At least I am.

看完的第一本英文原文全劇。實際看的是《諾頓英國文學選第五版》裏收錄的。還下載瞭個John D Jump編輯的PDF，1965年的版本，還沒看裏麵的介紹部分which占瞭一半的內容。。。

#EL A sound magician is a mighty god 新時代開始於一串葡萄。變革的混亂縮影，聖俗混雜，王座上掐架；喜歡七宗罪齣場部分、海倫隱喻、每一句拉丁文（趕在瞭莎士比亞前麵）、開場南徵北戰、sin and everlasting death、伊卡洛斯analogy，還有袁老先生對我結尾那個問題的絕佳解答。tutorial上有外國同學堅定認為浮士德是自私混蛋，我還真和他爭起來瞭…女士先生們，有請這個現代人，他用死亡為我們暖場。

In Marlowe’s version Dr Faustus conjures up Mep cuz he feels unconvinced by God and the scriptures. His is a religious, a philosophical rebellion. In contrast, Goethe’s Faust is motivated by athletes baser: a crass desire for personal power for its own sake.
