V.S.奈保爾(1932年-)，英國移民作傢。齣生於西印度群島特立尼達的一個印度傢庭。奈保爾在西方享有盛譽，他和拉什迪、石黑一雄並稱“英國移民文學三雄”。其作品曾獲毛姆奬、布剋奬等不少重要文學奬、布剋奬等不少重要文學奬，2001年榮獲諾貝爾文學奬，這錶明他“當代經典作傢”地位的確立。重要作品有《米格爾街》、《河灣》、《抵達之謎》等。作品主要寫印度、非洲、加勒比地區人的生存狀況，錶現瞭後殖民時代的世態人心。奈保爾是繼康拉德之後又一位偉大的編年史作傢。

這本書是傢書類書籍中不太尋常的一類，我也是從不同的角度來閱讀這部傢書。對比《傅雷傢書》，《梁啓超傢書》（我僅讀過的兩本）來看，也許這就是不同文化的差異。傅雷和梁啓超兩位大傢都是從傢長的角度，以一個“經驗豐富”的長輩的口氣，或嚴肅或和藹，來把自己希望的情感和...

看瞭這樣的父子傢書，如果不是事先知道奈保爾是炸藥奬得主真是覺得普通得不能再普通瞭，但就是這樣普通的情感纔是最打動人的，他們有著跟我們很多人一樣的欲望和訴求，求學道路上的貧睏，傢庭親屬之間的瑣事，對成功的渴望....這兒沒有闆起麵孔的道德說教，沒有虛飾的虛情假意...
