Mike Mignola is best known as the award-winning creator/writer/artist of Hellboy. He was also a visual consultant to director Guillermo del Toro on both Hellboy and Hellboy II: The Golden Army films. He also coauthored (with Christopher Golden) two novels, Baltimore, or, The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire and Joe Golem and the Drowning City. Mignola lives in Southern California with his wife, daughter, and cat.

John Byrne, originally from Dublin, Ireland, is one of Britain's top cartoonists, comedy writers and stand-up comedians with wide-ranging experience in performance, production and the teaching of creative skills. He is currently the resident artist on Nickelodeon TV (UK), drawing live and unscripted, and often with "art materials" that include everything from sausages to toothbrushes to TV presenters with luminous paint in their hair. He has a six year-old son Pearse, is married to Fumi, and has a house full of teen in-laws (who he loves dearly—especially since realizing the importance of babysitters!).

The Marvel and Other Short Stories is a collected anthology of six short stories written by the winners of the Austin Macauley World Book Day short story competition.

毁灭之芽，Hellboy故事的传奇开篇，也是mignola充分发挥自己绘画风格和想表达的世界观的作品。而且故事有合作者操刀，是稳扎稳打有充分魅力的，老实说虽然我是mignola脑残粉，但第一本之后mignola大神就自编自画了，但故事的魅力上远逊色于第一本，虽然画技本身也是逐渐精进，有些小短篇的故事也还可以，但也就仅此。尤其第六本以后大神逐渐连画也放弃了，后续的合作者画的哪有他好，就没怎么看了
