The most compelling character of all is Charley Hill, an ex-soldier, a would-be priest, and a complicated mix of brilliance, foolhardiness, and charm. The hunt for <em>The Scream</em> will either cap his career and rescue one of the world's best-known paintings or end in a fiasco that will dog him forever.</p>

读后感

蒙克的《呐喊》是世界上最为人们所熟知的艺术品之一，在欧洲挪威也是一个艺术并不是很繁荣的国家，可以说唯一能拿得出手的艺术家，就是蒙克了，就是这样一幅杰作，一个无价之宝，却那么轻易，没有一点技术含量，地被盗走了。两个盗贼，拿了一架梯子，爬上二楼，砸开玻璃，进去...  

我非常喜欢这本书的前半部分，特别是讲到艺术犯罪的操作方式和这个领域发生的奇闻异事的部分，初读起来既新奇又有趣，是一个对大千世界广度爱好者来说的全新视口。叙述的结构大致是以《呐喊》这幅超级名画在挪威失窃继而被希尔等探员追回为主线，当中不断穿插跟艺术犯罪有关的...  

这书不错，不是说多么有深刻含义，也不是说能教育我们如何如何（列位自己理解如何），关键是他有风趣的笔法和巧妙的安排带我们领略了艺术殿堂阴影下虫类们的日子。还有一个我推荐的原因是，翻译不错，以我的经验来看，上世纪九十年代前的作品，好翻译居多，坏的不多，想看什么...
