费夫贺，1878年生於法国南锡，1956年辞世。他与布洛克（Marc Bloch）共同创办了年监学派的核心刊物，也就是后来的「年监：经济、社会与文明」。今天，费夫贺已是公认的二十世纪史学大师，其法文作品还包括1911年的《菲立浦二世和弗朗什孔泰》、1922年的《土地与人类演进》、1928年的《命运：马丁路德传》、1940年的《全观历史》、1942年的《拉伯雷与十六世纪的不信神问题》，与1953年的《为历史而战》。英文着作部分，则有1950年的《地理观的历史导论》，以及1973年柏克（Peter Burke）选编的《历史新种类：费夫贺选集》。
