終於在這個周末看完瞭Empress Orchid. 這本小說讀起來還是很有趣的, 至少可以吸引我. 遣詞造句方麵明顯比Red Azalea進步很多, 更sophisticated. 絕對不能把它當作曆史小說來讀, 因為慈禧在書裏被描述成瞭一個充滿正義感的堅強女人, 而鹹豐和同治則都昏庸無能. 看到英法聯軍入侵...

看到Empress Orchid ，其實是先被裏麵故宮的俯視圖吸引，雖然細緻程度無法和《大紫禁城》相比，但是左頁下方宮殿名稱示意都是意譯的，這點讓我體會到作者的用心。其次裏麵能看到清宮裏常常會用到的詞匯或是俗語，比如“太監”、“宮女”、“磕頭”、“福如東海，壽比南山”...
