McCloud shows his reader how to master the human condition through word and image in a brilliantly minimalistic way. 每看一次就頭疼一次的書。在對技法和分鏡，相較日本漫畫，沒那麼注重的歐美漫畫裏，更高的畫風自由度(超級英雄係列除外)也錶現齣瞭更具個人色彩的風格，而且比起天馬行空趣味甚至獵奇性濃厚的日本漫畫，這類歐美漫畫更偏嚮在寫實的基礎上進行藝術加工，揉雜之後的濃墨重彩。
