与其说是学术论述倒不如说是一份关于当下如何通过艺术和策展进行有效的institutional critique的manifesto。在图像爆炸的当下，艺术和其美学开始遵守epistemology of search engine，而艺术作为一种图像流通的格式（format）连通了具有特定美学和哲学意识形态的社会资本和金融资本。本着以其人之道还治其人之身的原则，Joselit提出理想的艺术家或策展人要去揭示单个图像/艺术品和其图像网的关系，同时提出巧用这种格式的权力，把艺术变为一种非金钱性质的流通货币，创造出支持图像再分配行为的空间（image commons)。可读性和可行性都考虑到，深入浅出，短小精悍，没有掉冗余的书袋，真是难得。
