本書公理係統所描述的Relativistic QFT實為有限UV/IR regulator的場論在重整化後的連續/熱力學極限。然而隻保證 Renormalized Wightman functions之收斂，而決不覆蓋Hamiltonian/Hilbert space結構以及Wave functions，縱幾無UV發散如1+1 phi ^4。可知Haag theorem和微擾計算所使用的有限regulator理論的interaction picture並無矛盾。之所以存在誤解者，忽視regularity壁壘也。另，極限之存在性高度非平庸，少數被證明的實例亦在QFT領域最高成就之列。

翻譯瞭中譯本，已經譯完。正如Wightman在開篇中說的，本書隻收錄瞭那些他認為值得傳世的結論。這本書幾乎是公理化場論的必讀之作，其中的很多證明非常優美。對Reeh-Schleider定理、PCT定理、自鏇統計定理和Haag定理的證明展現瞭局域量子場論的深刻性。盡管Haag定理經常被實用主義理論物理學傢們所不屑（我們幾乎所有有實際意義的結果都依賴於相互作用錶象），書中對它的解釋，清晰地指齣瞭定理與無窮維量子係統的對易關係存在無窮多不等價幺正錶示之間的聯係。這些乾淨的結果，直接影響著我們對Causality, Locality和Unitarity這些被奉為金科玉律的原理的思考。而一些先行者的嘗試已經或多或少地暗示瞭，這三點在量子引力中很有可能是不相容的。
