Desire and Design: two words that this publication metaphorically throws up in the air and literally catches as they fly past--or is it the other way around? Judge for yourself in the ingeniously designed pages of Swiss Design 2003, the second publication of the country's Federal Office of Culture. This volume questions the possible relationships, whether real or imaginary, between desire and design, tackling them from both a practical and theoretical angle. Swiss Design 2003 is divided into two parts, the first of which focuses on the prize winner of the most recent Swiss Federal Design Competition. The second part contains various essays that focus on the subjects of desire and object, desire and frustration, and fashion as profession. The publication itself is designed by Elektrosmog.
