我怎麼看怎麼覺得彆扭，但是還是在繼續看。我要看看，這個作者要怎麼意淫中國最後的一個皇太後。我試圖拋棄原來的一切成見，那這書當fiction小說看。

在圖書館藉的英文書。好久沒看英文書瞭。

書是N年前買的原版，作者閔安琪據傳是陳衝的同學，文革期間被迫離開中國。作為一個中國人能用非母語的英語寫成詞匯、句法如此豐富的故事實屬不易。作者用近乎給慈禧翻案的筆觸塑造瞭一個渴求愛情、望子成龍的女性形象。她渴望擁有至高權利的男人的愛因此入宮；渴望自己的兒子能像個男人、帝王一樣掌管權利但又恨鐵不成鋼因此開始垂簾聽政，但身邊的兩個男人都讓她失望瞭，也在中國這個男權的封建社會裏留下瞭韆古罵名。我對慈禧的認知完全停留在曆史課本裏，但很欣賞作者的寫作功力，將一個勇敢又自私的女性寫得如此栩栩如生。總體感覺是寫給外國人看的，裏麵的鹹豐帝以及垂簾聽政的細節看著像極瞭野史。題外話：裏麵描寫美女的形容詞好多吖~~
