作者：尤利乌斯•莱斯特（Julius Lester）

美国知名儿童文学作家，曾在马萨诸塞大学阿姆赫斯特分校担任教职三十余年，同时是一位知名的摄影师和音乐人。1968年开始创作，作品有图画书、少年小说以及成人小说，代表作《成为奴隶》（获得了1969年美国纽伯瑞儿童文学银奖）、《约翰•亨利》（获得了1995年美国凯迪克银牌奖）等，此外还多次获得美国科瑞特•史考特•金童书奖、美国图书馆协会推荐童书等荣誉。

早在1987年，尤利乌斯便因与杰瑞•平克尼合作《雷摩斯叔叔的故事》结下缘分，两人后来多次携手，除了本书，还有《小红母鸡》、《黑牛仔和野马》和《古老的非洲》等，两人的合作，故事与绘画均是精品，被誉为绝佳的拍档。

绘者：杰瑞•平克尼（Jerry Pinkney）

著名非裔美籍插画家。1939年出生于费城，四岁开始画画，毕业于费城艺术学院，从1964年起专攻儿童读物的插图，至今创作了一百余本作品，还成功举办了超过三十次个人作品回顾展。现为多所大学的艺术教授，住在纽约州。

杰瑞一生所获的荣誉不胜枚举。其中包括2011年的仅次于诺贝尔文学奖的第二大文学奖，世界最大儿童文学奖——阿斯特丽德•林格伦文学奖提名奖；2006年的美国插画家协会终身成就奖；1997年的国际安徒生绘本大奖的提名奖；还包括一度获美国凯迪克大奖金牌奖，五度获银牌奖；五度获科瑞特•史考特•金童书奖金牌奖，四度获银牌奖；四度获美国《纽约时报》年度最佳图画书奖。
