不得不說，名不副實，這樣的書名估計是編輯的創作瞭。相信編輯和作者都是知道Anatomy of Criticism或者An Anatomy of Melancholy的。這本書是不求深度的史傳性質的，基本上就是比較重要的字體、字族的傳承發展，而且是更著重設計者和刻字匠人的創作生涯簡要描述的，所以對最該分析解剖的字體本身，對字體的形式美感的認識上基本上是沒有大的助益的，隻是對普通讀者來講，能知道一下什麼樣的字時中世紀的風格，什麼又是文藝復興的風格，而且是粗淺印象式，並不能給你準確深入的歸納總結。每篇的史傳起點基本都在大概上世紀初的一些比較著名或者傳奇的字體設計者開始。這些人也都是從古文韻緻中傳承傳統，又結閤現代對可讀性的需求，做齣比較經典的復古範例。復古不泥古。
