Dormer questions orthodoxies, defines the contexts within which designers work, and aims to cover the wide range of post-war activity, including industrial and product design, graphics, furniture, textiles, kitchen utensils and tableware. His previous books include "The New Ceramics", "The New Furniture" and "The Meanings of Modern Design".

原文是好書，此譯本則很糟糕。 我不認識譯者，實話實說而已。隻要找隨便找一段話，甚至是一句話，比較一下，就會感到慘不忍睹。隻要英語基本語法還算過得去，就算有很多單詞不認得，靠著字典也不該拿齣如此惡劣的譯本。 說實在的，譯者既然根本看不懂原文，就不應該再齣什麼譯...

這本來是一本挺有意思的書。 彼得·多默這本書的第一章是《設計師是什麼？》，多默說，設計被認為是具有兩種相互獨立但又相互聯係的領域，它可能被某個企業戰略性的用於計劃生産和形成市場，很明顯的充當瞭製造某種獨特的産品來吸引顧客的角色。 設計是産生想法和使這些想法明...
