威廉姆.R.美普斯博士（1937-1997），美国杰出法医人类学家，专业领域为法医骨骼学。美国法医学会（AAFS）会员，曾任美国法医人类学委员会（ABFA）主席。1968年起在西密歇根大学开始教职，1973年进佛罗里达大学人类学系任教，1978年被任命为佛州自然历史博物馆体质人类学馆负责人。自1970年代起，任佛州、纽约州等地医学检验顾问，将其专业知识应用于罪案及交通事故遇难者鉴证。与美国军方中央鉴定实验室保持良好合作关系，担任“二战”、韩战、越南冲突中的失踪及死亡军人的身份鉴证工作。对历史人类学有浓厚兴趣，曾参与对西班牙远征秘鲁征服者皮扎罗、美国总统扎克瑞•泰勒、英国“象人”、俄国末代沙皇家族等历史知名人物的遗骸鉴证，揭开多个历史谜团。在28年的职业生涯里，美普斯投入激情和科学热诚处理了超过1200件的鉴定案，其卓著成果深受业内赞誉。他曾获佛罗里达大学“杰出贡献教授”称号；由他主持创建的C.A.庞德人类鉴定实验室是世界法医学界最知名的实验室之一。与记者麦克.C.布朗宁合作著有《死者在说话》一书。

不知怎的就看了这本，法医的工作和一些大案子，比较强烈的个人色彩，多一点人文关怀，少一点术业科研，后面越战和沙皇的鉴定我跳着看了。。

因为看了中文版的 觉得翻译的非常好 于是找来英文原版看看 真的是没让人失望 虽然有医学术语需要查字典 但作者用词幽默完全不枯燥 又有深深的人文情怀 看的时候好几次都想哭出来 这本和De Profundis真是并列我的最爱啊~~~
