Stoppard一嚮有梗，隻是這次的梗變成瞭地下絲絨、平弗、宇宙塑膠人和哈維爾，變成國族和時代夾縫裡的一點失落和一點不屈。相比Arcadia的機巧，這部看起來是更有sentimental的成分，但Stoppard對humanity的書寫是不變的：Amachanon, non-machine. Uncontrollable, UNCAGEABLE.
