The studies contained in this book aim at illuminating through concrete examples the inner structures of Greek vocabulary as one of the principal driving forces of lexical generation. Special attention is paid to the Mycenaean language as evidence of a thoroughly individualized Greek language in the 2nd millennium BC: the observation of certain derivation structures, as well as the architecture of lexical groups or the productivity of certain forms of organization, takes precedence over researching the reflection of virtual images, as put forward by the comparative reconstruction of a purely etymological approach.
