讀瞭Introducation和葉文心、華誌堅的兩篇文章，Introducation提齣social network在上海史的利用，以及上海作為個案如何與近代歐洲城市史的學者所提齣的理論作對比。葉文心仍然延續瞭從文化史角度看近代上海商業發展的思路，分析瞭近代上海如何做到“商與官”、“商與學”的結閤，以及黃炎培在這一過程中所起到的作用。華誌堅的文章可以視為本論文集的總結，隻是試圖用“transnational”的分析方式，把視野從以往的“華洋分隔”投嚮“華洋閤作”。
