算是我对韩国现代史的启蒙读物了。不难懂，也没什么惊艳的。White people视角。

读到1987年总统大选五共结束。本来是打算了解韩国国内政治的，读到中间才发现本书其实是美朝韩围绕朝鲜半岛的外交史。不过从这个视角看五共几位人物还挺有趣。

书是韩国前外交部长prof Yoon 推荐的，很大一部分原因是因为他毕业于Johns Hopkins SAIS，应该可以说是美国最好的韩半岛研究机构了，Don Oberdonfer是他的老师，但是Don其实是一个journalist，所以有很多讨厌的细部内容。书结构其实比较散，以时间为主线，但是有些chapter会倒回去叙述，不认真记时间就会乱，还有因为有很多Kim 不认真看也会混掉，但是结构上的defect大概是comparative study都不能避免的吧。我个人自以为是对朝鲜半岛懂得比较多的，但是还是在书里面发现了一些觉得很惊艳的细节，所以还是值得一度的，就是一个小时里需要一边note-taking所以只读25pages这种速度让我太绝望了，连续读了三天左右，不过还是觉得收获很大。
