The British Press Photographers Association provides its members with a voice to raise awareness and appreciation of the press photography industry. Newspaper editor and publisher Harold Evans is one of the most inflential names in the British media and has long been a powerful spokesman for the role of photography in journalism. He was editor of the Sunday Times between 1967 and 1981, resigning a year after Rupert Murdoch acquired the paper, citing a breach of guarantees of editorial independence.
