兩位作者功力深厚，眼界開闊。並不局限於某個人，而是著眼於重大分支領域的開創。例如第3章講列文虎剋利用顯微鏡發現細菌，實際與後來巴斯德、科赫等人的貢獻連為一體。第8章講到Anichkov的膽固醇假說，實際是與同時期許多科學傢在激素、酶類等生物分子研究領域的貢獻共同標誌瞭現代實驗生理學、生物化學和藥代動力學的重要進步。這本書至少在三十年內不會被改寫，希望能見到中譯本。
