Rasmussen's innovative study furthers the current research into sexuality and education by contextualizing GLBT youth in relation to broader adolescent and institutional cultures and practices. Her work can help us to understand how young people's sexual and gender identities are continuously negotiated by all members of school communities. She goes on to consider alternative views of inclusion, and brings in the often-overlooked topic of sex and pleasure in secondary schools, constructing a new viewpoint of the continuing 'victimization vs. resilience' debate in queer studies.
