Sigfrido Burgos Cáceres is international consultant and author of The Hungry Dragon: How China's Resource Quest is Reshaping the World and China's Strategic Interests in the South China Sea: Power and Resources. From 2007 to 2012 he was based in Rome, Italy, at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. He has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles on China's economic, political, military, and foreign affairs. He is happily married and currently lives in the United States.

This title will explore China’s strategic interests in the South China Sea, with a specific emphasis on power projection and resource security. China’s regional actions and reactions are reshaping the power dynamics in East and South-East Asia, while economic and geopolitical futures depend on the variegated outcomes of these complex relationships with neighbours and the West.
