未到最後兩章前，綫索一根接一根像擠牙膏齣現，頗為乏味枯燥，但這部分有幾個情節特彆深刻：故事主人公蔡斯說他有個哥哥叫亞瑟，暗指亞瑟柯南道爾；在皇傢咖啡廳的14歲少年（話說怎樣知道人傢剛好也是14歲。。。☁️）會讓人聯想到在《最後一案》引走華生的少年，和效力...

這書前麵部分寫得很疲軟，推理不是安東尼赫洛維茲的強項，暫且不提，作為冒險故事看也不太符閤作者一貫的“爽”文風格，所以中間一度失望過。但結局證明不要小輕易小看作者，這些“不爽”其實是他刻意為之。作為福爾摩斯衍生故事，安東尼在架構和視角方麵的選擇堪稱大膽，腦洞...

時間設定在福爾摩斯與莫裏亞蒂懸崖之戰後。美國犯罪集團頭子趁虛而入妄圖全麵吞並莫裏亞蒂的英國領地，鍥而不捨的美國偵探與推理能力幾乎媲美福爾摩斯又帶有病嬌屬性的英國警官並肩戰鬥將其擊潰（結尾有驚喜就不劇透瞭）。敵方是沒有英式優雅的暴力野蠻犯罪者，因此沒什麼trick，以陰謀展開帶動情節，可惜boss智商情商也都不高，感覺雙方隻是在鬥勇實在稱不上鬥智，而作者是在十分用力地試圖以scale取勝，於是結尾的得意洋洋還蠻傻的。語音書後麵還附瞭Derek Jacobi念的同作者福爾摩斯短篇The Three Monarchs。剛意識到這個語音書還有book2。。要麼嘗試一下調到2倍速練聽力吧orz
