This month, Phaidon publishes the first monograph on the work of Japanese architect Hitoshi Abe, who shot to fame with his winning design for Japan's Miyagi Stadium. The book's structure—it's divided into sections for "Line," "Surface," and "Volume"—mirrors Abe's fascination with geometric complexity. But the architect also has a feel for the human element, and actually likens his process to designing clothes: "[It] has its own structure, but needs contact with the human body to define its shape." Something tells us Raf et al. know just what he means.
