格雷戈裏·馬奎爾（Gregory Maguire，1954年6月9日－）一直緻力於推廣兒童文學，並從1978年開始為兒童創作童話故事。

1995年，馬奎爾以經典童話《綠野仙蹤》裏的反派人物“西方壞女巫”為主角，創作瞭他第一本麵嚮成年人的小說《魔法壞女巫》。“我們現在所看 到的曆史，都是勝者寫的。”馬奎爾以“西方壞女巫”為契機，為長大成人的我們創作瞭一係列以經典童話中的“壞人”為主角的奇幻小說，挑戰“勝者”視角下早已為人所熟知的故事。

《魔法壞女巫》在齣版8年後被改編為音樂劇，在紐約百老匯與倫敦西區熱演至今，獲奬無數；《魔法壞女巫》小說也已躋身世界級暢銷書行列，成為20世紀經典奇幻小說之一。
