一 费正清的论证有个观点值得注意，首先是3世纪到5世纪，这个时候，中国和罗马帝国一样都是受到蛮族入侵，在中国叫作五胡乱华。但是罗马帝国此后就一蹶不振，而中国在5世纪建立的唐朝则完全复制了秦汉帝制。究其原因除了是中国有比罗马更深的帝制传统（董仲舒建立的天命说）...
