My name is Amber Reynolds. There are three things you should know about me:
1. I’m in a coma.
2. My husband doesn’t love me anymore.
3. Sometimes I lie.
Amber wakes up in a hospital. She can’t move. She can’t speak. She can’t open her eyes. She can hear everyone around her, but they have no idea. Amber doesn’t remember what happened, but she has a suspicion her husband had something to do with it. Alternating between her paralyzed present, the week before her accident, and a series of childhood diaries from twenty years ago, this brilliant psychological thriller asks: Is something really a lie if you believe it's the truth?
British. Far less suspense compared to Girl on the Train. -- 2018-5-22
评分故弄玄虚,撇开技巧如果平铺直叙的话,无论故事还是人物都很平面,看在作者故意花了很多心思误导读者的份上,勉强三颗星
评分People say there’s nothing like a mother’s love, take that away and you’ll find there is nothing like a daughter’s hate.” narrator随时感觉都要崩溃,带着浓重的哭腔,不过还算符合人物特征,比较神经质;小时候的日记有些意思,对原生家庭的极其厌恶和对于好朋友家庭的过于羡慕,极其缺爱,不太正常;作者写的主角神志不清,真真假假,周围人也说她不要再说慌;没有真正的好人和圣母,人人都有病,sociopath!过于故弄玄虚,作者已经开始写第二部,到时候看怎么完结这个故事,太多谜团。
评分概念不错,反转确实没想到;但缺乏深度结尾又故弄玄虚。New Yorker推荐看来也不怎么靠谱。
评分3.5 stars. A suspenseful psychological thriller that may seem formulaic at first but soon would take you to unfamiliar territories. We all carry secrets and lie for the sake of safeguarding them, but the version of ourselves that we deem unsightly and thus bury deep within will always follow and throw a surprise upon us when it feels playful.
