丹尼爾•L. 埃弗裏特（Daniel L. Everett）

傳奇式的語言學傢和人類學傢。埃弗裏特齣生於美國和墨西哥邊境多語言混雜的環境中，早年就學於神學院，畢業後被派往巴西研究當地部落民的語言以便嚮其傳教。埃弗裏特在這裏展現齣瞭強大的語言天賦，很快學會瞭當地人的語言並癡迷於此，他在亞馬孫叢林中的皮拉罕人部落中生活二十餘年，取得瞭一係列重要的研究成果，在皮拉罕人思維方式的影響下，他逐漸放棄信仰成為一個無神論者。

埃弗裏特曾在坎皮納斯大學、匹茲堡大學、曼徹斯特大學和伊利諾伊州立大學擔任語言學和人類學方麵的職務，現為本特利大學認知科學受托教授（Trustee Professor），著有《語言：文化工具》《彆睡，這裏有蛇》《語言學的野外考察》《心靈的暗物質》《語言的誕生》等。
