角色设定很俗，故事不算差吧，但并不觉节奏掌握的很棒。从头到尾有种作者为了丰富人设，而恨不得把所有"common teenage problems"都写进去的感觉。Some people call it real, i call it a cliche...What disappointed me the most is that as for a mystery novel, how come i never felt thrilled？Also can we not make some of the scenes more catching than the actual murderer reveal?

第一本读完的英语原著。作者用第一人称来写每个人物，把心理刻画得丝丝入扣，我常很有带入感，常也像书中人物一样感到一丝苍凉——一些不该发生在这些年轻人身上的事，和他们所不该承受的……实际上当可怕的事发生在故事中人身上时，我很难多么在意，或许是书中国外校园文化与我们的大相径庭所致，最后无非又是众生皆苦，彼此祝福。但当我渐次步入主人翁们的内心世界，却是多了许多怜悯出来。故事的最后，有点明白“可怜之人必有可恨之处”的含义，因为可恨，所以众叛亲离，看上去就很可怜。总之，虽然看得艰难，但逐字逐句看的好处就是，情绪会随着情结推进起起伏伏，不会迫不及待跳去看结局(毕竟没那么好定位哈哈哈)。以及，我记住了书里的那句话：Things’ll get worse before they get better。

每一个人物的故事都很具有美国特色，不论是Bronwyn优等生背后的故事，还是Addy找到独立于他人存在的自己，还是Cooper从隐藏到出柜，还是Nate家人渐渐恢复正常，所有的这些人物的发展都很积极正向，读到最后也能让人感到生活的可爱和希望。甚至是整本书里透露出对警察、媒体等公共服务机构和大学的讽刺和不信任，也都很具有美国特色。作者对这四个主人公十分优待，给了他们最美好的结局，然而现实当中的他们真的能够在经历了这样的事情之后还能全身而退甚至过上更诚实的生活吗？不过故事的节奏把握的很好，前半部比较慢，但是后面很紧凑，结局虽然能够部分猜到，还是出乎意料之外，也在情理之中。Bronwyn和Nate这一对我一开始不看好，但越看越觉得很cute，相比之下另外两人存在感就比较小了……还是值得一看的！

作为一部猜到了结尾的悬疑小说，总感觉推理部分略弱了些，但作为一部青春校园小说，内容还是不错的，挺真实，让人反思又挺治愈。

封面不错每个人都从自己的角度讲detention那天发生的事情结局有些失望 mentally ill 真是可怕本期待校花，学霸，前科犯和运动员能有更惊心动魄的策划
