Donald Nichols Collection, remarkable for its exceptional breadth and diversity. Together, the images recreate the entire American abstract art scene of the '30s and '40s. Featured are works by members of the American Abstract Artists group and the Museum of Non-Objective Painting in New York, the Transcendental Painting Group in New Mexico, and the New Bauhaus school centered around Laszlo Moholy-Nagy in Chicago. "Regional Modernists" from Pennsylvania, California, the Pacific Northwest, and the deep South also provide fine examples of abstract art.
