理查德·道金斯(Richard Dawkins,1941— )
英国皇家科学院院士,牛津大学首席西蒙尼“公众理解科学教授”,进化论生物学家。他是英国著名科学作家,几乎每本书都是畅销书,并经常在各大媒体引起轰动。2005年,英国《前景》杂志会同美国《外交政策》杂志评选出在世的全球100名最有影响力的公共知识分子,道金斯赫然在列。
1976年出版的《自私的基因》是他最重要的代表作,他的基因观念颠覆了我们对自身的认知,深刻影响了整整一个时代。其他主要作品有《祖先的故事》《延伸的表型》《盲眼钟表匠》《地球上最伟大的表演》《解析彩虹》《魔鬼的牧师》《攀登不可能的山峰》《超越上帝》等。
