This text contains 59 cases from the United States, each of which presents a question that regularly confronts medical practitioners across the world. Each case is discussed by two or three ethicists, physicians, or hospital administrators. Students are placed in the middle of each situation. In this third edition there are 12 new cases that address issues stemming from cultural conflict, employer/employee relationships, religious objections to treatment, and other dilemmas. The book can stand alone but can also be used in conjunction with Ridley's "Beginning Bioethics".
