有魄力的學者

Wilson對於joblessness這個variable的分析和重視在今天看來誠然是不夠全麵的，隻限於芝加哥一個城市也讓人質疑其理論普世性，而且令我感到詫異的是他完全沒有提到芝加哥強大的party machine對於構建isolated innercity communities的作用。Massey對他的理論是很好的補充和挑戰。但無論怎麼講，這本書是後世學者怎麼也繞不開的seminal work，其也對裏根時期由Murray為首的保守派領頭的對於welfare state的攻擊和 personal responsibility的重視做齣瞭極好的迴擊。
