我对这个类型的画册完全没有任何抵抗力，我最爱最爱的就是18-20世纪初，在照相机普及之前西方探险家和画家的那些手绘画集，尤其是那些过去不为人知的神秘地区的。之前买了苏格兰大卫罗伯茨的埃及和圣地画集，简直爱的睡觉都要抱着，也买了N个版本。而这本画集是弗里德里克到中美洲玛雅地区的画集，那时候玛雅的建筑被藤蔓缠绕，充满了神秘感，不像现在早已被修缮的焕然一新。不过他的绘画水平还是远逊色于大卫.罗伯茨的。
