約翰•馮霍夫,30年資深越野路跑與超馬跑者,曾跑過數場50韆米賽、50英裏賽、百英裏賽、24小時賽及72小時賽。他曾三度在超級艱難的美國西部百英裏賽事中完賽,也曾背著20韆剋的背包,和隊友於8日內完成加州內華達山區的約翰謬爾步道。
1992年轉換“工作跑道”,成為急診醫療輔助員,並取得骨科技術師、急診室技術師的資格,現為舊金山灣區緊急醫療服務機構一員,在全世界知名的路跑、超馬、登山或越野賽事當中,提供誌願服務。2009年,他參與瞭經典的運動傷害教科書Expedition and Wilderness Medicine的撰寫工作。
