Claudia Gray仍然是我最喜欢的星战官方小说作家，因为我觉得她喜欢从角色的角度去写，而不像我看过的其它一些作者，更多只想构造剧情。然而这本小说和所有星战官方小说一样，commission的感觉太重了。感觉构造原创人物的时候是根据模版来的：☑️rogue Jedi, ☑️年轻的君主, ☑️政客, ☑️scoundrel, ☑️大企业。剧情的构造我觉得可以挑刺的。如果角色之间沟通多一点就不会有这个故事了。Rael的学徒的事情和当前故事的两重呼应，构造得痕迹也很明显，但感觉作者用心了。我几乎一直在心里批评作者对预言的处理。但是到最后Qui-Gon和预言的关系的超脱，让我觉得很满足。另外，Q和O的关系为什么总是这么言情。JA系列我看过一半，虽然好读，但太纵容这种言情倾向了

聽作者本人的描述以為小說重在探索Qui-Gon和Obi-Wan初期師徒關係，沒有預料到星際政治元素也很濃，好在不算喧賓奪主而且也影射現實。但是Dooku的戲份比預期輕了很多，有些遺憾。總體上是一段發生在前傳之前很有趣的小插曲，雖然作者對尾聲的處理有點倉促，和主線故事的聯係也不夠明顯。
