该书的主要作者David Wilkins是2005年美国国家卓越艺术史教学大奖获得者。本书内容从地域上看涉及欧洲、非洲、亚洲、北美洲、南美洲艺术，并进行了全面详尽的阐述。尤其是对亚洲艺术的内容涉及明显要多于其他同类图书。

川美研究生上课老师推荐的书，但是书太贵了，就几个同学合买了一本，看了看，感觉还不错，建议有财力的同学可以买了看看。这本书与国内其他书比较的话，特点还是很明显，范围太广了。看了这么多还是感觉不错的，小推荐下。
