Sino-American relations 1946-1953, and the bacteriological warfare controversy. China Weekly Review editor John William Powell and his staff reflected growing disillusionment with Guomindang corruption and ineptitude. As civil war shifted in favor of the Communists in 1948, the review counseled American businessmen to stay put, and worked for Sino-American understanding and diplomatic relations. The Review supported charges that U.S. forces used Bacteriological Weapons in Korea, and its editors were indicted for sedition after repatriation.
