歐美的財富積累很大程度上是掠奪，無論是北美還是南美，由於白人的入侵使得當地的原住民銷聲匿跡。光看小說的名字就知道是個驚心動魄的悲劇故事。那些為被開墾的土地上的人用生命保衛家園，結局卻都一樣，不甚唏噓。

库珀的《刺客》写的不错，《最后一个莫西干人》是在看了电影之后才看的原著，从主旨来说，小说更具神采——当一个民族的神灵都受到亵渎与践踏的时候，她该消亡了...殖民是黑暗的，自由与美好再让人热血澎湃，终究要湮没在必将到来的阴霾中。

首先申明的是，我看的不是这个版本，由于豆瓣网上没有宋兆霖先生翻译的版本，我也只好拿本书来凑数。库柏被认为是美国的文学之父，《最后一个莫希干人》是其代表作。今天花了一天时间把书读完，还真的被吸引住了。以前的批评者都从小说的人物形象上分析，认为刻画了邦波...

虽然是有名的小说，虽然号称《皮裹腿故事集》中最经典的作品，但是我再三努力，最终还是没能读完。还是时代的关系吧，这种叙述中夹杂许多议论的叙事方式，旧时代繁复的礼节、比喻和做派，还有无处不在的白人的种族优越感，不熟悉的印第安部族与殖民史，都影响到阅读的流畅感...
